Mentor Instructions for Letters of Recommendation

  1. Address all letters to the SURF Selection Committee.
  2. Address student's academic (especially research) abilities and performances
  3. Outline significance of the student's project
  4. Indicate student's ability to complete the project
  5. Comment on student's ability to meet the schedule and to live up to commitments
  6. Outline the mentor's advisory role, explaining what the mentor has to bring to the project
  7. Preferred on official letterhead and signed, delivered in a envelope signed across the seal
